Tahir es un experimentado profesional de la administración pública, la banca, la tesorería y las finanzas, con una trayectoria de éxito demostrada a lo largo de sus 28 años de carrera. En este cargo, Tahir asumió el puesto de gobernador suplente del FMI para Omán, participando en reuniones de comités clave (incluido el CMFI), funciones y tareas del Fondo, así como en colaboraciones interinstitucionales con el Grupo del Banco Mundial. También ocupó el cargo de gobernador del Fondo Monetario Árabe, del Comité de Gobernadores de Bancos Centrales del Consejo de Cooperación del Golfo (CCG) y de varias otras instituciones.
